Policy Classifications
In this policy, certain words and phrases are capitalized to indicate that they carry specific defined meanings as outlined below:
- Best Practice: Refers to the operational approach adopted by Unic Technologies Limited to ensure the protection of children within the United Kingdom.
- Unic Technologies Limited: A company with limited liability, registered and incorporated in the United Kingdom under the company number 15710638, having its registered office at 7-8 Leeland Terrace, London W13 9HW.
- Unic Platform: Means the technology platform(s) provided by Unic Technologies Limited.
- Child/Children: Refers to one or more individuals under the age of 18, as defined by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which has been ratified in the United Kingdom.
- Customer: Refers to a user of the Unic Technologies Limited Platform who utilizes it to request transportation services.
- Journey: Denotes transportation services coordinated through the Unic Technologies Platform.
- Responsible Adult: Refers to an individual aged 18 or above who is either a relative or guardian of the respective Child.
- Service Provider: Refers to a user of the Unic Technologies Limited Platform who, under contract with Unic Technologies Limited, utilizes the platform to offer transportation services.
2. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is:
- Ensure Customers understand their responsibility for maintaining the ongoing security and safety of any Child transported through services arranged via the Unic Technologies Limited app.
- Inform Service Providers of their obligation to adhere to Unic Technologies Limited’s Best Practice standards regarding the protection of Children.
- Unic Technologies Limited deems any attempt to use the Unic Technologies Platform for transporting unaccompanied Children as inconsistent with its Best Practice approach to safeguarding Children, posing risks to the safety and comfort of Children, Customers, and Service Providers.
- Customers and Service Providers must consistently adhere to this policy in line with Unic Technologies Limited’s Best Practice approach.
3. Expectations of Customers
- Customers are advised against utilizing the Unic Technologies Platform for transporting any unaccompanied Child unless:
- The Child is in risk; or
- There are other serious conditions (such as an emergency) that require the transport of the Child.
- Customers are recommended that:
- A Service Provider may refuse to provide a Journey if the Service Provider believes that doing so would conflict with this Child Safety Policy and/or place a Child in risk;
- If any Customer chooses to use the Unic Technologies Platform for transporting a Child, they assume responsibility for the ongoing security and safety of the Child. Thus, the Customer must take all requisite measures to ensure the Child’s safety and comfort at all times, including before and after any relevant Journey and in situations where a Journey is declined by a Service Provider.
- Customers must promptly and directly contact emergency services if there are concerns regarding the immediate safety of a Child or any other individual.
- Customers should inform Unic Technologies Limited at the earliest possible opportunity if there has been a failure to adhere to this policy, once it is safe to do so.
- Unic Technologies Limited reserves the right to suspend or terminate a Customer’s access to the Unic Technologies Platform if it determines, at its discretion, that there has been a breach of this policy.
- Unic Technologies Limited reserves the right to amend or update these terms at its discretion, at any time. Users will be informed via in-app push notifications and email of any upcoming changes or updates to Unic Technologies Terms and Conditions.
4. Expectations of Service Providers
- Service Providers should not allow the transport of any Child via Journeys unless:
- The Child is accompanied by an adult that the Service Provider believes is a Responsible Adult; or
- The relevant Service Provider believes that:
- The Child is in danger; or
- There are other serious circumstances (such as an emergency) that the Service Provider believes necessitate the transport of the Child.
- Service Providers are recommended that:
- Service Providers have the discretion to decline providing a Journey if they believe it would violate this policy or endanger a Child.
- Service Providers must promptly contact emergency services if they suspect immediate danger to a Child or any other individual.
- Service Providers are accountable for ensuring that all individuals associated with their Unic Technologies Platform account adhere to this policy.
- Service Providers should notify Unic Technologies as soon as it is safe to do so in case of any failure to comply with this policy.
- Unic Technologies Limited reserves the right to suspend or terminate a Service Provider’s access to the Unic Technologies Platform if it determines, at its discretion, that there has been a breach of this policy.
5. Unic Technologies’ Child Safety Policy
Unic Technologies Limited reserves the right to update this policy and all processes relating to it from time to time to ensure and/or improve its Best Practice.
